What Colours Should You Wear for Durga Puja 2026?

by Vipul Pande

Girls Pujo is coming!
Which means the dhaak is about to start. The pandals are getting ready. The mishti is calling our name. And you know your girl has already planned five outfits for three days.
As they should…
Because Durga Puja is not exactly the time for “I'll just wear something simple.”
We're talking colour.
We're talking jewellery.
We're talking sarees, kurtas, festive sets, pretty dupattas and that one outfit that makes you look in the mirror and go: “Ami je tomar…”
Okay. We got a little filmy. But you get the mood.
At Westside the Pujo palette is bringing all the festive feels! Think sindoor reds. Soft whites. Gorgeous greens. Beautiful pinks. Sunshine yellows. And rich jewel tones. Palettes that were basically made for pandal-hopping.

So... What Colours Are We Wearing For Pujo This Year?

First things first.
Red. Obviously.
It's bold. It's festive. It's got that Durga Puja energy without needing to explain itself.
A red saree? Classic.
A red kurta set? Beautiful.
Red with gold jewellery? Arre. Bas. We're done.
And if the colour makes you feel like you've walked straight into a Sanjay Leela Bhansali set? Girl.

Can I Wear White For Durga Puja?

Please! White looks beautiful without even trying too hard.
A white saree with a red border? Iconic.
A white kurta with statement earrings? Easy.
A flowy white festive set with gold jewellery? Very “I just walked into the pandal and everybody knows I have arrived.”
And let's be honest.
White and red together? Kya baat hai.
That's a Pujo combination for a reason.

What About Pink?

Pink is absolutely having a moment.
Soft pink if you're keeping things pretty and understated.
Hot pink if you're feeling a little more “Aaj kuch toofan karte hain.”
And deeper pinks if you want something richer for an evening celebration.
Pair it with gold jewellery.
Add a little shimmer.
Maybe a dramatic dupatta.
Now you're talking.
Because Pujo is a celebration.
Thoda colour toh banta hai.

Is Yellow A Good Pujo Colour?

100%.
Yellow brings that happy, sunshine-y energy that works beautifully for daytime Pujo.
Think mustard. Marigold. Soft butter yellow. Bright sunshine.
A yellow kurta with earrings and juttis? Mast.
A yellow saree with a little gold? Nazar na lage.
And if you're taking pictures in the afternoon? Even better.
The colour is going to do half the work for you.

Should I Wear Green?

Absolutely. Go for it!
Emerald. Bottle green. Pista. Sage.
There are so many ways to do it.
A rich green saree with gold jewellery? Full heroine entry.
A green kurta with a printed dupatta? More relaxed.
A festive green co-ord? Very now.
Basically? Green has range babe.
And we love a colour that can do both “Pujo at 11 AM” and “Dinner after the pandal hopping.”

What If I Want Something A Little More Glam?

Then bring out the jewel tones.
Deep purple. Wine. Royal blue. Emerald. Plum.
These are the colours for when the lights come on… And you're ready to make your entrance.
You know that scene? Where the heroine just walks into the party and the music changes?
That.
Except you're walking into the Pujo celebration.
And the music is probably a dhak.
Even better.

Can I Wear Gold?

Can you?
Bhai. It's Pujo.
You can absolutely bring in gold.
But you don't have to wear gold from head to toe.
A gold border.
Metallic details.
Statement earrings.
A little shimmer on the dupatta.
Gold bangles.
Let the colour do some of the talking too.
Because sometimes the best festive outfits are the ones where everything isn't competing for attention.
One gorgeous colour.
A little gold.
Bas.

What If I Don't Want To Wear Traditional Colours?

Then don't! There is no Pujo police.
Try lavender. Powder blue. Peach. Coral. Terracotta. A gorgeous neutral.
With the right jewellery and details? Very KJo movie + desi Gen Z vibes
Festive dressing doesn't mean you have to wear the same three colours every year.
Take a classic silhouette.
Pick an unexpected colour.
Add your favourite jewellery.
And make it yours.
Because that's really the fun of dressing for Pujo.

So... What's The Pujo Colour Rule For 2026?

Wear the colour that makes you feel good.
Red if you're feeling dramatic.
White if you're keeping it classic.
Pink if you're feeling pretty.
Yellow for daytime sunshine.
Green when you want something rich and festive.
Jewel tones when you're ready for a little drama.
Pastels and unexpected shades when you want to do your own thing.
There is no wrong answer.
It's Pujo.
There are lights.
There is music.
There is food.
There are photos.
There are relatives asking questions you absolutely did not prepare for.

At least let the outfit be fabulous.

At Westside the Pujo palette is all about colour, celebration and a little bit of drama. Find the shades that make you want to twirl. The prints that catch your eye. And the festive pieces that make you feel like Deepika at a Kjo set.

Head to your nearest Westside store or browse online and find your Pujo colour story.
Because the pandals are ready.
The dhaak is playing.
And darling, it's time to bring the colours!
